Volunteers Needed in our Cavan branch

We are Currently looking for Volunteers for the following Roles:

Suicide intervention Officer
Fundraising
Micro Volunteering

Messaging Support Service For Young People

What Your Role Will be

Listening to the service user, provide support, care and where needed offer practical advice on services available to them via online messaging. This role will be undertaken from your home.

Helping low and high-risk suicidal clients presenting with issues of self-harm, suicidal ideation, alcoholism, depression, and unresolved past trauma

Contacting the office with any referrals from chats during the night to be followed up by daytime office staff.

Maintaining accurate and confidential records in line with SOSAD policy and regulations.

Training

Successful candidates will receive full training for this role in active listening, Crisis intervention skills and the software used.

Requirements

All applicants have to undergo Vetting to fulfil this position.
A laptop or phone with a good internet connection.
Previous experience working with people who are suicidal/ depressed preferable.
Experience working on a help line preferable
Commitment to one 4 hour shift per week, completing a total of 200 hours (1 year)
Committing to attend group supervision and working with your mentor
Ability to work positively with clientele
Effective communication and organisational skills
Respect for patient confidentiality
To maintain professional and personal boundaries.
Must have a caring, empathetic and understanding nature
